This is a 'must have' book for the collector of American
composition dolls. It is well researched and showcases many smaller
companies that produced dolls as beautiful, and desirable, as the larger
,better known manufacturers. The addition of actual advertisements from
trade magazines, touting 'uniqueness' and sales potential for particular
dolls, is both interesting and education to the serious collector as well as
the novice. The histories of the lesser known companies ,no matter how
short, are enlightening since many of them I knew nothing about. |

I found a wealth of information in this book about dolls from the
smaller companies and on Mattel's budding doll line. I even found a few I
had as a child but have not seen in other books and had not been able to ID
until now. A lot of doll accessories are included for specific dolls that
are not usually seen unless you have an old ad or catalog /booklet for that
doll. This is a good addition to any collector's library and nicely
showcases the dolls and girl toys of the era many of us think was the best
of American dolls. |

Doll collectors everywhere will be enchanted by this
stunning full-color reference showcasing 100 years of collectible dolls,
from the fine bisque creations of France and Germany in the 1860's to the
popular Barbies of the 1960s. The book's 1,500 listings include
comprehensive data on each doll, and over 1,000 spectacular photos provide
detail for identification purposes. Using information gathered from a huge
private collection in the Midwest as well as a major doll auction conducted
in Maine, Warman's Dolls: Antique to Modern provides information on
manufacturers, body and head styles, costumes, detailed condition reports
and pricing for each listing. The guide also includes a glossary of
collecting terms to aid both the beginning enthusiast and the advanced
collector. |

Cindy has done it again - This is a
FABULOUS guide to all those dolls we played with back then! Cindy has
indexed this book by all of the popular (and not-so-popular) doll
manufacturers in order by year of release. Everything is full color, with
approximate secondary market values! Vinyl dolls from the 60's and 70's are
rapidly growing in value on the collector's market and buyers have the BEST
opportunity now to scour, ID and sell - this is one book you do not want to
be without at doll shows! I enjoyed reacquainting myself with most all of
the dolls displayed. |

I have several of Izen's books and I'm
never disappointed with them. I especially like the section on the PlayPal
family group; I found a couple of variations that I don't remember seeing
before. There are a few I'd like to have seen more pictures and info on, but
I guess something has to be saved for the next book. |
