Perhaps you don't know (as I didn't)
that outdoor weddings are rare in France - at least in Auvillar. Our guests didn't
quite know what to make of it. Many assumed our officiate must be an American minister or
someone from the Embassy. Actually, our friend Bill acted as our speaker and did a
wonderful job. The unity candle was another oddity, and many had never seen couples
exchange vows that were personalized or in any way out of the norm. Overall, they
thought it was extremely avant garde and enjoyed it very much. We were complimented
again and again by our French guests on the beauty of the ceremony, but then with
surroundings like these, who wouldn't be impressed? It was incredible. |
